Year End Trip - 21-22 November 2009 (Saturday-Sunday)
It's that time of year again. Okay okay..I know we Monash-ians are heading towards our bi-annual period of exams, but it's the end of the year again.
Therefore, it is time for our Year End Trip! *cheers and applause* We'll be heading to Kamunting, Taiping to help out Madam Kang and her 100 over (no kidding) dogs. We would be helping her clean up the areas in and around her place.

Where : Kamunting, Taiping, Perak
When : 21-22 November 2009, Saturday-Sunday
21st November 2009 – Saturday)
6:00a.m. Gather at entrance of Monash University
6:15a.m. Safety briefing
6:30a.m. Leave for Taiping
11:00a.m. Arrival at Taiping and meet with Madam Kang (includes assisting her with cleaning up the compound, clean the cages and taking care of Madam Kang)
3:30p.m. Late Lunch/Tea
5:00p.m. Head to lodgings to rest and bathe
7:00p.m. Dinner
8:30p.m. Taiping Zoo – Night safari visit
10:00p.m. Head back to lodgings to rest for the night
(22nd November 2009 – Sunday)
10:00a.m. Breakfast and checkout
11:30a.m. Leave for Hot Springs
12:30p.m. Arrival at Hot Springs (includes relaxing by Hot Springs)
2:00p.m. Lunch
3:30p.m. Leave for Monash University
As this is an overnight trip, we would of course be having other fellowship activities throughout the trip. If you wanna know what kind of activities, come join us!
*For those who have the excuse 'I'm afraid of animals' or 'I'm afraid of dogs' in your head now, do not fear as Madam Kang's area is big enough to avoid the dogs if necessary...so no excuse =D*

WALKATHON 2009
On the 4th of October 2009 we had our biggest event of this year, our Walkathon 2009 in Monash University. The main goal of this event was to spread the awareness of global warming and have fun at the same time walking with friends and family. It was a great success, with over 250++ participants joining.With sponsors from Canon and F&N we were able to create T-shirts and banners to help promote this event. We were also able to get free goodie bags from Sunway Pyramind. Overall it was a great event, here are some pictures:

Health Awareness Week
The purpose of blood donation campaign was to increase awareness about the importance of blood donation and also to ease the blood supply of Pusat Darah Negara. There were 88 packs of blood collected throughout the blood donation drive.
The NKF mobile LifeCheck team was also invited to hold basic health screenings for the Monash community. The health screening programme comprised of the measurement of blood pressure, blood glucose, cholesterol level, Body Mass Index (BMI), waist circumference, urinalysis and counseling. There were as many as 219 staff and students who have participated in the health screening.
In addition, staff from the National Transplant Resource Centre was invited to promote the organ donation programme. This is to encourage and inform the staff and students about the importance of organ donation. Throughout the campaign, there was a total of 47 Monash staff and students who have pledged their organs.
A booth was also set up to fundraise for the National Kidney Foundation (NKF). NKF merchandise items such as mugs, towels, magnets, disposable thermometers, postcards and recycle bags as well as mooncakes were sold. A total amount of RM1211.70 has been collected from the sales and a donation box. This amount was fully donated to NKF.
Thank you to all staff and students of Monash University for your enthusiasm and participation in this event. We would also like to express a huge appreciation to all members of Leo Club of Monash University who has volunteered to help out in this event and making it a success.
