A Taste of Love on Father's Day!

NKF is a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to help alleviate the sufferings of poor kidney failure patients. Today NKF has a total of 23 dialysis centres nationwide serving more than 1145 end-stage poor kidney failure patients. Kidney patients have to endure through 4 hours of dialysis treatment, 3 times a week, 13 times a month.

At NKF, each subsidized dialysis treatment costs the patients RM 50 which amounts to RM 650 per month or RM 7,800 per year whereas in private hospitals the fees are about RM 250 per treatment or RM 39,000 per year. This year, NKF needs to raise RM 4.5 million to subsidize its poor and needy patients for their dialysis treatments. At such, NKF has to organize projects/activities to raise the much needed funds.

PAWS Visitation

First of all, apologies for the extremely late update on the PAWS trip =/

The morning of 17th April 2009 dawned bright and early. As it was our Uni's mid-sem break, most of the students were at home sleeping or resting.

However, 11 Leo members gathered at the entrance of Uni. Why you may ask. The reason these 11 members woke up early and was at uni before 9am was because they were going to volunteer at the PAWS animal shelter.

Upon arrival at PAWS, we were greeted with the sound of dogs barking. We proceeded to sign the volunteer forms and was later told what to do by the Uncle who worked there. As Leo Ken was our OC, he was in charge XD

There were 2 main tasks to be done. One was to take the puppies out for a walk and bathe them after. The other was to clean the puppies' cages.

So, guess who took the puppies? ;)

Naturally, the girls wanted to work with the puppies. And because the guys were such gentlemen, they relented =D

The girls started with walking the puppies along the stretch of road parellel to the main highway. After walking all the puppies (excluding the quarrantined ones), the girls walked the adult dogs.

The guys washed and cleaned the cages in the puppy area. After which they moved on to the quarrantine area and subsequently the main puppy cages outside.

When all the puppy cages were clean, the guys decided to walk and bathe the dogs too.

After all the work done, we decided to have lunch at the ever-famous Asia Cafe (it was the only place we thought would let us in smelling like we did haha).

The group of us excluding Leo Melissa, Leo Willie and Leo An Dee (as the photographer).

It was indeed a meaningful trip for all of us. Thanks to everyone who volunteered =)
