C&S Week Semester 2 2010

It is the beginning of the semester again hence the C&S week. The club will be recruiting new members for the club and below is a snippet of what happened during the week.

Trip to Sungai Lembing

In order to cultivate an appreciation of natural resources and to strengthen the relationship among members, Tropicana group organized a 3D2N trip to Sungai Lembing from 14th July 2010 to 16th July 2010. Sungai Lembing is a small town in Pahang which is known for picturesque scenery, historical attraction as well as great food and hospitality. A total of 29 members participated in this trip and had a lot of fun in Teluk Chempedak Beach, Rainbow Waterfall, Charas Cave, Panorama Hill, Hanging Bridge, Noodle Workshop as well as Sungai Lembing Museum!

Short Visit to CSCD

On the 2nd of July 2010, Humanities group has successfully organized a trip to the Community Service Center for the Deaf (CSCD). The objective of this visit is to observe the situation of the center and also to interact and spend time with students of the center. On 1st of July 2010, the day before this visitation, the Organizing Chairperson, Leo Alyssa Foo, prepared a sign language refresher course at the staff lounge. A total of 11 members participated in this visit. Below is a gist of the visit:

Members gather at the front gate of the university at 8am.


On arrival at the center, the Leos were brought to see the students and introduced each other.


After the introduction, the Leos prepare the stations to play some games with the students.


The children had fun with our games.


The Leos ordered Domino's for the children to eat after playing the games.

UPDATES!!!

Hey guys, how is uni life going? I know there's alot of assignments and all but leo club have come up with some great activities to destress and have fun!!!

First up we have....


RECYCLING CAMPAIGN CLEAN UP

This event will be held this Saturday on the 24th April 2010 at 8a.m till 3p.m. After a whole week of collecting all the recycling material in the whole of Monash University, we will sort out all the materials and give it to the recycling plants to do our part for mother nature. In the process we will also earn quite a hefty sum of money if we collect as much a 100kilo. So to all those strong guys out there in leo club and girls with a nack for cleaning, join us this Saturday =)




FUNDRAISING FOR MADAM KANG


This event will be held to raise funds for Madam Kang who is someone very special to our club. Last year we visited her place in Taiping to help her with 200 of her dogs. yes, 200 dogs are staying in her place so she needs all the help she can get, especially money to buy food for the dogs. So, commencing from 26th April 2010 to 30th April 2010 from 10a.m till 4p.m we will be selling 3 food items to Monash students:

1. Taufu Fa

2. Soya Bean drink
3. Cookies

So, those who are free from 10am till 4pm come help with the booth and sell these delicious items to our Monash University =P. For more detail contact Leo Bryan (\) and for those who wanna help bake cookies can contact our leo club president for more detail =)


HEALTH AWARENESS WEEK

Health awareness week will be commencing this 26th April 2010 till 30th April 2010. There will be only one main attraction which will be the blood donation drive. So for those with alot of stress blood or wanna get skinny abit come join the blood donation drive. Who knows, maybe your blood will help save a person's life =). It will be held in the Foyer at Audi 1, so be there and help support this event =)
