The Health Awareness Week is back and this time it is held from the 9th until the 16th of May 2011. The OC for this event is Leo Shen Ling, our incoming Treasurer! On the 9th till the 11th, Blood Donation Drive was held in the concourse area.

The target for blood donors was reached.

The place was crowded at noon.

Thank you Lion Jamie for supporting our event!

On the 9th afternoon, the HIV Talk was also held in the concourse area. The purpose of this talk is to raise awareness towards Monash students about HIV.

A representative from the United Nations came to give this talk. Thank you for coming!

On the 10th to the 11th, LeoMUSC invited ISEC to do a free eye screening for Monash students and staff.

The target audience for this event was also met.

On the 16th, NKF was invited to Monash University to do a health screening.

The participation for this event was remarkably high.

Kudos to Leo Shen Ling and a vote of thanks to everyone who helped and participated in the events! :)

A Taste of Love on Father's Day!

NKF is a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to help alleviate the sufferings of poor kidney failure patients. Today NKF has a total of 23 dialysis centres nationwide serving more than 1145 end-stage poor kidney failure patients. Kidney patients have to endure through 4 hours of dialysis treatment, 3 times a week, 13 times a month.

At NKF, each subsidized dialysis treatment costs the patients RM 50 which amounts to RM 650 per month or RM 7,800 per year whereas in private hospitals the fees are about RM 250 per treatment or RM 39,000 per year. This year, NKF needs to raise RM 4.5 million to subsidize its poor and needy patients for their dialysis treatments. At such, NKF has to organize projects/activities to raise the much needed funds.

In conjunction with Father’s Day and also to raise funds for the poor kidney failure patients of NKF, we are pleased to inform Restoran Cubes has come out with a charity programme themed “A Taste of Love” which shall be a two months charity campaign starting from 1 June to 31 July 2009.
